Dr David Stasiuk

David grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne surrounded by a large family and many pets. They included dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, turtles, ducks, and tropical fish. He was influenced early on by the adventures of James Herriot and Gerald Durrell and happily completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Science with the University of Melbourne in 1999.  David started practising as a mixed animal vet in South-Eastern Victoria caring for all species of animal including horses, cattle, alpaca, and domestic small animals. In 2000 David completed a 12 month post-graduate course in Internal Medicine with the University of Sydney.

As time passed, David’s interest consolidated and he became more focused on small animals, cats and dogs. In 2001 David travelled to the UK and worked with international veterinarians in several well established veterinary hospitals. He was very impressed with their level of care and service and found himself advancing his knowledge in dog, cat, and rabbit medicine and surgery.  During this time David became a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Upon his return to Melbourne, David spent 4 years as a consultant for the largest veterinary hospital in the southern hemisphere, Lort Smith Animal Hospital (North Melbourne). Here the immense workload and variety of cases, from across Victoria, fed his academic knowledge and advanced his technical skills. In June 2017 David purchased Mackie Family Vet Clinic from Dr Mark Mackie.

David is married to Anna and they have three daughters. They live with many pets including two dogs Buddy and Yoshi, one cat  Macca, a bearded dragon Echo. David enjoys learning, reading, and endurance sports.
